POG Spring Rally, North West Leicestershire Society of Model Engineers - May 2016
Another successful POG Rally, this time hosted by our friends at the North West Leicestershire society.
POG Autumn Rally, Pinewood Miniature Railway - September 2010
The POG Autumn Rally this year was held at the Pinewood Miniature Railway. This is a long track and certainly gave the engines chance to stretch their legs (wheels?!). As the name suggests the ground level track runs through pine woods and is very peaceful. It was nice to see so many familiar faces and to welcome new ones. A lot of discussion took place and it was interesting to see the two chassis that were brought along and to find out how the owners are getting along with their construction.
Our thanks go to Pinewood Miniature Railway for inviting us.
POG Spring Rally and AGM, Bournemouth & District Society of Model Engineers - May 2010
Once again the sun shone on us at Bournemouth for the first POG rally of 2010. The morning started with the AGM held at 10am and lasted a rather long 4 minutes! After that the rally commenced. It was nice to see so many regular faces and meet the new ones. The Bournemouth track is in a lovely setting and provides a very nice ride around. The facilities provided by Bournemouth are first class and particularly impressive are their new unloading facilities. It was nice to see Richard Taylor's new and much modified Polly VI. The lunch provided was great and we were kept fed and watered very well through the day - thank you.
Many thanks to B&DSME for hosting us and making us so welcome and giving us such a good day. The ladies also had a good day shopping in Bournemouth!
Thank you and see you at Guildford.
POG Autumn Rally, Peterborough Society of Model Engineers - September 2009
Peterborough SME kindly agreed to host our Autumn Rally and AGM. The AGM was held first and was over quickly (12 minutes - we must to better next time!) and the rally commenced soon afterwards. The weather on the Saturday was glorious while the Sunday was a lot cooler. The track at Peterborough is very well laid and winds its way round a walled garden of fruit trees. This makes a delightful setting and the fish and chip supper on the lawn was a nice way to round off the Saturday. Sunday was quieter but those who were there enjoyed themselves hauling passengers and it was nice to see Stephen Jakeman's Polly VI on its second run since completion. Many thanks to Terry and Irene who looked after us so well and provided a wonderful ploughman's lunch. Thanks to Peterborough SME for making us so welcome. An engraved plate was given to them as a thank you for having us.
POG Rally, Bracknell Railway Society - May 2009
The first rally of 2009 was kindly hosted by Bracknell Railway Society. It is an excellent track and those who did attend had a very good time. Thanks to Bracknell Railway Society for making everyone so welcome and keeping us fed and watered so well!
Polly Owners Group Rally, Nottingham Society of Model and Experimental Engineers - July 2008
On July 5th and 6th the first rally of 2008 was held at NSMEE. Despite the dismal weather forecast the day was bright and sunny, in fact the only rain we had was during the BBQ and we were able to go inside! The Nottingham Society track is raised level for 5”g and covers a distance of about 2300 feet giving a nice run over gradients of 1 in 80. Over 20 Polly’s ran during the weekend and a good deal of discussion and exchanging of ideas took place. Thank you to NSMEE for hosting the event and making us so welcome.
Below is a gallery of the event which, judging by the smiles in the photos, everyone enjoyed!
French Polly Rally, Vapeur à Barnac - June 2008
The weekend of 7th and 8th June 2008 saw the French Polly Rally take place hosted by the European Polly Agent Geerlig Voogd. The track is near Montcuq and is very interesting to drive having gradients of 1 in 50 and 1 in 24 and sharp curves. A BBQ was held on the Saturday night followed by night running.
Five British Polly’s made their way across the Channel to take part including Nick Moody’s locomotive which had its inaugural run.
Thank you to Geerlig and Judy for inviting us and feeding us so well on the Saturday night!
Polly Rally, Guilford - September 2007
Guildford Model Engineering Society hosted a Polly Rally in 2007. The event was blessed with good weather and a number of engines arrived to try this challenging track. A thoroughly good time was had by all and thanks go to Guildford MES for hosting the event.
